Journalist, author and Worldwide FM radio DJ Emma Warren joins us for an evening of conversation, music and a workshop that “invites us to remember the venues and community centres that generated culture, and asks us to protect the few that remain.”
Emma’s brand new book, ‘Make Some Space: Tuning Into Total Refreshment Centre’, gives an insider‘s account of the London venue TRC as an incubator for the London jazz explosion. More importantly, it shows us why and how we should create and preserve community spaces, hence we couldn’t think of a better guest to help us bring Wavertree Worldwide into the open.
6:30pm – Make Some Space: Liverpool Edition Workshop.
A 90 minute ‘How To Document Your Culture Workshop’ that aims to help you work out how to tell your stories – through photography or by interviewing people or by starting an Instagram feed. It’s suitable for anyone, of any age, who would prefer that their stories were told by people with lived experience of a place, or a subject.
8:00pm – ‘Make Some Space’ Liverpool Panel.
An open conversation on making space and documenting your culture with Emma, Bernie Connor (The Sound Of Music) , Catherine Tackley (Professor of Music at the University of Liverpool) and more local guests. This section of the night is open to all guests, no reservations necessary.
